Whilst I’m still winding down for Christmas here at KMP-HQ so expect to see a number of posts from me today. One of the things I’ve been able to do is look back over work from the last couple of months, and wanted to share with you all just some of the exciting things going on in South Wales this year.
In the Commercial section of this website, I’ve uploaded new work from a couple of jobs done in recent months, both of which have been an absolute pleasure to work on.
The Sinclair Group – 70th Anniversary Celebrations at The Celtic Manor Resort, Newport
Oh what a beautiful night! The Sinclair Group came together in November to celebrate 70 years of trade. Firmly established as the largest and most successful motor group in Wales, representing some of the most prestigious automotive brands and serving retail and corporate sectors across the UK.
The evening brought together over 900 employees for a sit down 3-course meal at the The Celtic Manor, for an evening of awards, performances as well as some charity fundraising for The Sinclair Foundation, set up to provide support for Sinclair employees and their families should they suffer a critical illness or bereavement.
It was an absolute pleasure being invited to photograph this black-tie event; mingling through the room photographing their guests, I was touched by how many of the Sinclair employees had anecdotes about how working for The Sinclair family and for the company had touched their lives personally in some way. There was so much admiration, compassion and humility for what the Sinclair family have achieved, I was genuinely moved. It truly was a very memorable evening.
Pili Pala Dance and Drama
Through my work with Artspark! over the last year, I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know Bethan Ryland, a dance and drama tutor working in and around Caerphilly. Launching her website in the new year – http://pilipaladanceanddrama.co.uk – we spent a charming day visiting some of the groups Beth works with photographing dancing, activities and sing-a-longs they’ve all been getting up to.
Beth is a really talented tutor who is able to go into any room and get her participants moving and engage with the activities she plans. She is passionate about the work that she does, and it really comes through with the enthusiasm and laughter you see in the room she works in.
I’m looking forward to continuing photographing workshops with Beth in the new year, so expect to see more outcomes soon. A quick thank you to Bethan Ryland, Ty Gwynno Care Home, Pontypridd and Parklands Care Home, Bedwas for securing me permission to photograph their residents and these workshops. Full contact details on how to get in touch with Beth are available on her website.
Many thanks for checking out these images – if you need a photographer to capture your event or activities, please feel free to get in touch at studio@katemercer.co.uk or by phone at 07515 455134.
Take care for now,
