NEMESES: Selected collaborations by S.J. Fowler
11 Aug 2020, Posted by #artsnewydd, Exhibitions, London, Night Time Economy, Published, S.J. Fowler inAnother latergram this week, this time of work published in 2019 from the Arts Council of Wales research and development funded project The Night-Time Economy with international poet, S.J. Fowler.
Steven and I originally collaborated back in 2016 after meeting at an ENEMIES PROJECT and POETRY WALES event at The Project Space in Newport. From two completely different sides of the UK, internationally recognised poet S.J. Fowler and myself identified with each other through our experiences of working in the night-time economy.
Launching in January 2016, this ambitious collaborative project will begin in Newport, where our initial outcomes will form an exhibition of the poetry and photography for the review of our peers. The work was then exhibited in April 2016 at The Riverfront Theatre & Arts Centre, Newport, and again in London during July 2016 at the Rich Mix Centre, Shoreditch – a centre of innovation and experimentation, bringing work to new audiences from both inside and outside London.
I’m really pleased Steven wanted to include our collaboration in this volume of his work. When the R&D came to a close in 2016, we always intended carrying the work forward. I spoke to ACW about it, and Ffotogallery but was advised to work on it further. So far, due to personal commitments it hasn’t yet come to be (think how difficult it can be getting family in one place in one room at the same time… perhaps in a COVID world with online working, this could all change?!) The world today however now seems a very different place…
Congratulations Steven on the launch of this book! Llongyfarchiadau gan eich holl ffrindiau mewn Cymru. Find out more about NEMESES and the artists featured in the book below.

NEMESES is a book of nearly 300 pages of collaborations, in text, fiction, poetry, music, photography, film, sculpture, performance and everything in between.
