Love In Absence (2011)
Installation – Video / Postcards / Giclee Print / Framed Polaroids
This body of work explores the absence of family figures that conventionally feature in personal archives of photography. Whilst the context of this work originates from personal family photographic albums, it also touches on the private and public nature of archives and family narratives. Publicly, family albums document the members of a specific social group, whilst privately they illustrate memories of one generation to another, passed on through the stories anchored to those photographs. If this knowledge is absent, how will members of these people be remembered when memories of them fade? Love in Absence is an exploration of this conflict.
