Today I spent a very enjoyable day researching a potential community arts event over in Bristol care of Totterdown’s Frontroom Arts Trail. The event has been running since 2001 taking place every November in and around Totterdown, with the emphasis on (though not exclusively about) local art. Participants either live in the Totterdown area or they apply via the groups website to find a venue to showcase their work in. The event is run entirely by a committee of volunteers on a shoe-string budget.

It’s an absolutely brilliant project where the whole community comes to life! Today there was music, there was dancing, there was art work and mulled wine. A set up like this could be taken anywhere and applied to anything – all it needs is a bit of passion, a little co-ordination and a generous helping of time.

Please visit the website for more details on the project and to see the full event programme: http://www.frontroom.org.uk
