Beginning early 2021, I have had the absolute privilege of taking part in the Wales Artist Coaching Pathway – led by Jon Dafydd-Kidd, supported by Artworks Cymru and The Riverfront Theatre & Arts Centre in Newport. The Wales Artist Coaching Pathway, a new free coaching programme, is underway to support freelance artists from Newport and Gwent working in the participatory arts. You can read Newport Live’s full press release, and meet all those involved here:

Gan ddechrau yn gynnar yn 2021, cefais y fraint lwyr o gymryd rhan yn Llwybr Hyfforddi Artistiaid Cymru – dan arweiniad Jon Dafydd-Kidd, gyda chefnogaeth Artworks Cymru a Canolfan Theatr a Celfyddydau Riverfront yn Casnewydd. Mae Llwybr Hyfforddi Artistiaid Cymru, rhaglen hyfforddi newydd am ddim, ar y gweill i gefnogi artistiaid ar eu liwt eu hunain o Casnewydd a Gwent sy’n gweithio yn y celfyddydau cyfranogol. Gallwch ddarllen datganiad i’r wasg llawn Newport Live, a chwrdd â phawb sy’n gysylltiedig yma:

The artists involved are being coached by artist coach, Jon Dafydd-Kidd, where a coaching-style relationship and dialogue allows the coachees to explore their practice, aspirations, needs and potential in a structured way. The Wales Artist Coaching Pathway is a Wales-wide pilot led by Artworks Cymru to specifically support freelance artists working in the participatory arts.

Without wishing to navel gaze, it has been a tumultuous couple of years for me both personally and professionally – and with COVID-19 throwing much of what was certain or at least familiar out of the window, this opportunity to work with Jon in this way at this particular time has been an absolute blessing, and a privilege to be part of the pilot where such a programme can develop to help others in future.

All I can say is thank you everyone involved for the opportunity, and especially Jon for creating such a positive and protected space to reflect and grow professionally as a practitioner in 2021 (and his excellent gif game).

Mae’r artistiaid dan sylw yn cael eu hyfforddi gan yr hyfforddwr artistiaid, Jon Dafydd-Kidd, lle mae perthynas a deialog ar ffurf hyfforddi yn caniatáu i’r hyfforddwyr archwilio eu harfer, eu dyheadau, eu hanghenion a’u potensial mewn ffordd strwythuredig. Mae Llwybr Hyfforddi Artistiaid Cymru yn beilot ledled Cymru dan arweiniad Artworks Cymru i gefnogi artistiaid ar eu liwt eu hunain sy’n gweithio yn y celfyddydau cyfranogol yn benodol.

Heb ddymuno syllu bogail, mae wedi bod yn gwpl o flynyddoedd cythryblus i mi yn bersonol ac yn broffesiynol – a gyda COVID-19 yn taflu llawer o’r hyn a oedd yn sicr neu o leiaf yn gyfarwydd allan o’r ffenestr, y cyfle hwn i weithio gyda Jon yn y modd hwn. ar yr adeg benodol hon wedi bod yn fendith lwyr, ac yn fraint cael bod yn rhan o’r peilot lle gall rhaglen o’r fath ddatblygu i helpu eraill yn y dyfodol.

Y cyfan y gallaf ei ddweud yw diolch i bawb a gymerodd ran am y cyfle, ac yn enwedig Jon am greu gofod mor gadarnhaol ac wedi’i warchod i adlewyrchu a thyfu’n broffesiynol fel ymarferydd yn 2021 (a’i gêm gif ragorol).
