Howdy folks,

So excited to be able to share with everyone the launch of the website and digital exhibition space for ‘Lipstick & Chainsaws – a project produced by Winding Snake Productions inspired by the exploration of female representation in art and digital media.

This project has been created by Winding Snake Productions with students from Abertillery Comprehensive and Ebbw Vale Learning Community in Blaenau Gwent, South Wales, UK. This online digital gallery showcases the creative contributions made by young people from both schools, with guidance from professional artists, filmmakers and academics – full details of which can be found on the projects website: http://lipstickandchainsaws.co.uk

As part of this project, I delivered a workshop which looked at female photographers and the subject matters they chose. Inspired by the work of Gillian Wearing, the children then worked in pairs to create images that communicated something they themselves wanted to talk about, whether it was something they loved or wanted to change.  It was a really enjoyable day working with the children, and an ambitious project to be involved with. All the children involved in this session were a dream to teach – it’s great that their work made over the duration of the project is now available online for everyone to see. Well done all!

For more information on the project, contact Winding Snake Productions via email at hello@windingsnake.com, by telephone at 029 2038 4857, or visit their website www.windingsnake.com

This project is supported by an Arts Council of Wales Taking Part grant strand and First Campus at the University of South Wales.

Be sure to check out the project’s digital gallery online!
